District VII, New Mexico Music Educators Association

Constitution


Article I - Name, Purpose


Section I.    Name. The name of this organization shall be District Seven of the New Mexico Music Educators Association. This district shall include all public, private, and parochial schools, K-12, within the boundaries of the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS.)

Section II.    Purpose. The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the objectives of the New Mexico Music Educators Association (NMMEA); to further the cause of music education in the schools of greater Albuquerque; to provide representation for District Seven on the NMMEA Board of Directors; and to provide necessary administrative procedures for the operation of said district.


Article II - Membership


All music educators working within the boundaries of District Seven who are active members of NMMEA will automatically be members of District Seven.


Article III - Officers and Government


Section I    Officers. The officers of this organization shall be a President; a High School Vice President and a Middle School Vice President for each of the following divisions: Band, Choir, and Orchestra; and a Secretary/Treasurer.

Section II    Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers listed in Section I. The president shall call meetings of said board at his or her discretion. The Board shall serve to make recommendations only, the final decisions resting with the general membership. The Board shall reserve the right to call general membership meetings when necessary. Committees may be appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors.


Article IV - Meetings


Two general membership meetings are to be held each year, one within the first three weeks of the APS school year and one within the final month of the APS school year. Each meeting is to begin with information of interest to the general membership, and then proceed to division meetings.


Article V - Amendments


This Constitution may be amended by a majority vote of those members present at any general meeting, provided that notification of said change has been before the members at least thirty (30) days before the vote is taken.
