Description

Teach beginning and intermediate acoustic guitar at Kha’p’o Community School at Santa Clara Pueblo. Two classes meeting twice weekly, hybrid in-person and distance learning, grades 3-6. Use of published guitar curriculum required, including instruction in appropriate guitar technique, music literacy, music theory, performance etiquette. Ability to differentiate instruction and engage students’ intellect and imagination. Periodic assessment of student progress followed by responsive, adaptive instruction. Collaboration and cooperation with parent and school community. Regular communication with Executive Director of school. Management of student recruitment, student attendance, student practice, and instrument loans with associated documentation. Responsible for instrument maintenance including delivery to instrument repair facility as needed. Twice-yearly public presentations. Working knowledge of Google Meet software, ability to record information in Microsoft Excel templates. Report to Director of SFCMF Education and Outreach.

Requirements

Qualifications – experience working with elementary-age students in classroom setting as well as private teaching. Advanced knowledge of and skill in guitar performance as well as guitar pedagogy. Respectful, appropriate, effective classroom/behavior management ability. Bachelors’ degree in music education is a plus.
