Be a part of our secondary band team delivering a high-quality music education to students in Espanola Public Schools by directing ensembles and classes where students are inspired to develop their musical vocabulary, skills, and craft as well as a greater appreciation for the musical artform. The Middle School Band/Music director will work with our existing band director to recruit students, teach instrumental skills, develop curriculum, program literature and direct ensembles to increase offerings and further grow our new and emerging secondary band program. Direct several sections of 7th-8th grade beginning band and 8th grade intermediate band at Carlos F. Vigil Middle School. Introduce band and instrumental music to 6th grade students at feeder elementary schools and recruit for next year's middle school bands. Assist with sectionals and extra curricular activities at Espanola Valley High School. Run after-school or lunch sectionals at CFVMS. The CFVMS bands perform 3-4 evening concerts a year in addition to District 4 NMMEA music festivals; we also have the goal of increased parental involvement and increased co-curricular band activities at both levels. Team teaching and vertical alignment with the high school program is of high value to us.
