NMMEA leadership had incredible meetings on Capitol Hill with our elected representatives or their educational staffs. Below is a message from NAfME. Please add your voice! It really does matter!
In March of this year, President Donald Trump unveiled his budget for Fiscal Year 2020, which proposes eliminating funding for Title IV, Part A. Today, more than 300 NAfME leaders from across the nation are speaking with lawmakers in Washington, DC, to ensure this funding stream, which supports music as part of a “well-rounded education,” continues to receive support in the United States Congress.
We’re asking for your help in amplifying this message on Capitol Hill. By visiting this page and emailing your Representatives and Senators.
Title IV, Part A, also known as the Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Grant, is a flexible block grant authorized at $1.6 billion. Congress created the program in 2015 to support safe students, effective use of technology, and a well-rounded education, which includes music. For more information, check out the Everything ESSA page and the Title IV-A Toolkit.
